steve ferrone snare

anyone have any comments on this drum? i have a black beauty and i love it but apparently this thing is more like a supraphonic. just curious what you guys think.

Pearl IIRC. Never tried it myself.

Yeah it's a pearl and similar to their sensitone series I think... I used to have a sensitone and didn't like it too much. If you have a black beauty then don't degrade yourself by playing a 90's pearl snare! (Jay... where are you!?) [img]tongue.gif[/img]

i've played one time with the steve ferrone model
it's a beautiful brass snare very powerful(14"x6,5")
but personally i prefer tama

I?m playing this snare for several years now. I never used it as my main snare for live gigs, but for certain applications in the studio this drum really is a killer! more than one time it turned out to be the favourite snare of a session. especially when you need fat ballad snare sounds or kind of a mid-tuning midtempo Rocksnare it?s really a class of it?s own. I also use a Ludwig Supraphonic, but the SF has way more "Body" and midrange tone. I love it!!!
